Welcome back to the blog! Today we will be discussing the correlation between physical and mental health and five small things you can do each day to improve your health. 




I have been practicing meditation since I was a teenager. Meditation has always helped me calm my emotions and clear my head. There are numerous types of meditation however, I have discovered what works best for me is guided meditations. I have a tendency to be easily distracted so guided meditation helps me stay focused. I encourage you to find the type of meditation that works best for you.


Daily Meditation Benefits 



Helps Reduce Stress

Meditation helps lower my overall stress. 


Improves Focus and Clarity


          Daily practice helps me focus better throughout the day in general.


Enhanced Emotional Health

Simply put, when I practice every morning I feel calm and peaceful all day long.




Self Awareness 

With daily meditation I have become more attuned with myself. I pay more attention to my emotions, my mind, my spirit, and my body as a whole. Meditation has taught me how to deal with minor problems and not let them cause me to go into severe panic attacks.

            

           Improved Lung Function 

           I suffered from asthma for a couple of years after getting sick, so, I doubled the time I spent doing breath work as soon as I was able and gradually built my lungs back to where they needed to be. I no longer need to use it several times a day.




Benefits of yoga 


I know a lot of people say there's no way I can do yoga. Don't worry, I was one of them. I knew with my chronic back pain there was absolutely no way I could do “ pretzel” positions. I started researching and discovered there are so many types of yoga , and I found Gentle Flow Standing Yoga which has been perfect for me. I have improved my balance, flexibility, and toned my entire body using gentle flow standing yoga over the years.

 Regular practice helps to increase flexibility, reduces stiffness, tones the muscles, and improves range of motion in your joints.

We all know bottling up your emotions causes more harm than good. Writing everything out on paper is a great way to release those negative feelings and improve your physical and mental health.

    Writing down your dreams and goals for each day will help you to achieve them. Once you have written out your goals you can write out actionable steps you can take to achieve those goals.

So many times we take for granted the little things in life. I have definitely been guilty of this. That's why when I started journaling I would make sure to include three things I was grateful for each day in my journal. I would encourage you to do this as well and after one month go back and read everything you wrote down for the month in the gratitude section. You will learn just how blessed you really are.


Emotional Health 

            When you start acknowledging and practicing gratitude you will see a vast improvement in your emotional and mental health.

I truly love using daily affirmations. It is so wonderful to start the day with a positive outlook and affirmations help me do just that.

   Affirmations are a great way to boost your self confidence and start your day. Remember to repeat your affirmations to yourself throughout the day.

   Affirmations can help inspire and motivate you to keep working towards your dreams.

Affirmations will help you replace negative thoughts with positive and uplifting thoughts.


          Promotes a Positive Mindset 

          A positive mindset will boost your self confidence, motivate you to work towards your goals and will make you happier.
